Pioneer B-Boy and Rock Steady Crew founding member Crazy Legs AKA Richard Colón is coming to India courtesy of 9XO and Zomba for a six-day tour later this month, starting from the 25th of June to the 1st of July.
The Manhattan born B-Boy is one of the biggest names ever in break dance and indeed an inventor of some of the most spectacular moves in the art. With a career spanning over three decades, his work has earned him numerous appearances in movies, TV/ stage shows and in hip hop and dance documentaries. But despite all the achievements, Crazy Legs is surprisingly still an active member of the B-Boying community and a cultural ambassador who hosts numerous dance events and workshops annually around the world.
His contributions to urban culture have however not gone unnoticed, he has received several awards including the “Hip Hop Pioneer Award” from The Source Magazine, a nomination for “Best Choreography Award” from MTV, and the New York City Mayor David Bloomberg also declared July 26 to be “Rock Steady Crew Day” in New York City. Legs also featured as one of the primary characters in the PlayStation game, “B-Boy”, where he acts as a mentor as well as the end of game boss!
Currently Crazy Legs serves as the President of Rock Steady Crew, and the annual “Rock Steady Crew Anniversary” celebrations are one of the biggest events in the B-Boying calendar.
During the visit, Crazy Legs is scheduled to hold radio interviews, B-Boying workshops and club gigs in Mumbai and Delhi. We will be bringing you all the details of his visit to India very soon!
